2011 - Mani's mum Ann dies
Notes: The sad news that Greg and Gary Mounfield's mother has died.

2011 - Mani leaves Primal Scream

April 2011 - Ann's funeral.
Notes: The funeral gathers family and friends of Mani's mother's. Mani and Greg's step-brother Steve and his wife Moira attend too. The Stone Roses members attend the funeral and the band speak together for the first time.
Info From Storytime with Boon - Episode 16 Podcast. Clint tells the public that the media exploited and made up the headline, ''Clint Boon confirms Stone Roses reunion.'' The media took the information totally out of context, despite the fact that the band were reforming from meeting.
Mani responded "Two old friends meeting up after 15 years to pay their respects to my mother does not constitute the reformation of The Stone Roses. Please fuck off and leave it alone. It isn’t true and isn’t happening."
From 07 July 2013 08:34 walesonline.co.uk By David Owens: Steve realised how much a part of the family he had become when Mani’s mum sadly passed away in 2011 and he was invited to the funeral. It was a fateful day for many reasons: affirmation of how close the man from the Welsh valleys had become to his new family in the north and also the catalyst for what the world was waiting for – The Stone Roses reunion. “The whole family was there and they hadn’t met me at that point and some of the old ones were looking at me agog. And at the same time Mani was running up and down going ‘he’s back, he’s back, Colin is back!’ “I remember when Mani first met me he said, ‘Christ even his hair is parted on the same side as the old man.’ So it must have come as quite a shock when I appeared, especially as I looked so much like their dad.” And when Steve spied John Squire and Ian Brown at the funeral he quickly realised the significance of what he was witnessing. “I nudged my wife Moira and said ‘There’s Ian Brown and John Squire.’ She said ‘What’s wrong with that, they were in the band together?’ I said ‘Yeah but they haven’t spoken for 15 years.’ “Then we went back to a local pub and the pair of them were sat next to us. Mani introduced us and they were both lovely chatting away happily. “I said to Greg when we were at the bar, ‘What’s the chances of The Stone Roses getting back together?’ And he said ‘just keep your fingers crossed’, but as we all know that’s where it all came about. Out of something so sad, came something so good.”...

26 May 2011 - Shaun Ryder speaks to The Sun Newspaper regarding The Stone Roses reunion rumours.
Notes: Speaking to the Sun, former Happy Monday star Ryder said: "I think it'll happen, I really do. There is more of a chance now than ever of them getting back together. Ian's just split with his missus and I bet she's hit him for a few quid. "The only reason they will get back together is if Ian needs the cash. He never has before, he's a millionaire."

In November 2012 John Squire's Farmhouse caught fire. The fire
destroyed his two-storey art studio in the converted barn next to his
home. More than 20 Firefighters and five fire engines attended the
blaze, removing propane cylinders from the studio in order to protect
Squire's family home. Early news reports, accompanied by dramatic
photographs of the blaze, suggested Mani, who was godfather to three
of Squire's children, had been visiting. All the unsold paintings from
his “Celebrity” exhibition, featuring abstract works named after
figures such as serial killer Harold Shipman and David Beckham, were
destroyed.

M - 2011 - Peter Hook Interview , Session, 6 Music, BBC Radio, London
Notes: New Order's Peter Hook, who told BBC 6 Music he had been "tipped off last week" about The Stone Roses reunion. He said: "Because the band had such a short life, there was always this wish that they would reform - because they burned quite brightly and disappeared,"..."I think that they'll make their own magic..."When you talk face-to-face and you look into someone's eyes, it's definitely a much easier and much stronger way of communicating than doing it through your lawyers..."You find the thing you loved about each other at the start."

2011 - Simon Moran manages the band.
Notes: Simon, of SJM, was the promoter and managed the band during 2011. He previously managed John Squire during his solo years too.
From Blood On The Turntable BBC TV Documentary, Gareth Evans said: If The Stone Roses reformed I'd jump at the cahce to manage them. They can only be great with me. I am one of The Stone Roses, I am The Stone Roses...That's crap. I am The Stone Roses? What a load of fucking lies (laughing) I can't even play a guitar.

Notes: From 17 October 2011 - NME Magazine Wesbite: On 17 October 2011, Brown alluded to a Stone Roses reunion via text message, saying, "We are going to rule the world again. It's happening."
Dynamo told The Sun that Ian had confirmed the reunion by saying that the band were "ready to take the world by storm", and that Brown had sent him a text message with the words "It's happening".
From 03 October 2009 Saturday 00:07 - The Guardian Newspaper article, by Rich Pelley: The Stone Roses' debut album is famously 20 years old. How about if John Squire phoned and said, "Let's reform but I'll wear a KFC bucket on my head"? It's a long shot! Maybe he could buy me a bucket of Kentucky and I'll tell him why he wouldn't need to do that. I can tell you straight up, I've got no inclination to reform the Roses. I can't think of anyone who's reformed for art's sake. That's why the Roses will never reform. We were never about the money.

October 2011 - Shaun Ryder interview regarding Fabiola Quiroz Brown & Ian Brown's divorce
From The Telegraph, 18 October 2011 13:46pm by Murray Wardrop: Fellow Madchester scene star Shaun Ryder hinted over the weekend that Brown had been motivated by the recent split from his Mexican model wife Fabiola Quiroz. “It has been coming for a while. It's amazing what a divorce will make you do,” Ryder said.

N - 18 October 2011 Tuesday - The Stone Roses re-union press conference, Soho Hotel, London
Notes: The Stone Roses Officially Announce They Have Reformed.
Ian Brown's four-year-old godson, Wilson, with his father Gary Aspden attended too.
An estimated 26 million pounds was offered to the band to reform. Mani was paid an 1.8 million pound advance for the comeback tour. Earlier this year (2011), guitarist Squire told NME: "When it's just a get-together for a big payday and everyone gets their old clothes out, that seems tragic to me.".
A 2007 Paul John Dykes Interview with Robbie Jay Maddix revealed "Do you think The Stone Roses will ever reform? Would you want to be part of a reformation? If the Roses did reform, I would like to be a part of it but I don’t think that will happen. Ian was offered £10 million for him to reform the band – he turned it down, so I can’t see it, but you never know…"
From 06 March 2009 - Uncut Magazine Interview with Ian Brown on reforming The Stone Roses: So aside from any random, fantastical, Led Zeppelin one offs do you… I’d need to be down to my last chicken dinner, seriously. Every single act that’s reformed has done it for the money, I don’t think there’s anyone who’s done it for expression, artistic expression, or this burning desire to create more music or… I think it’s about money. I could always ring Mani and say: “Let’s get the band back together.” But if I said let’s do it and give the money to kids’ charities, would he still want to do it? I don’t think they would. So, could you see yourself sending John a packet of Maltesers in the future? I haven’t spoken to him since the phone call when he left the band in ‘96. Have you not? No. I’ve not spoke to him in 13 years coming up now.
From Uncut Magazine 13 May 2016, John Squire March 2006 Interview by Stephen Dalton: “Obviously I’d rather that wasn’t the case, but if I really cared about what people thought, I’d get the Roses back together and get on the oldies’ circuit,” “Well, I heard some live versions of him doing the songs and they sounded awful, so y’know,” retorts Squire, aware that he’s now unfairly seen as the villain of the piece. “I don’t think he’s in a position to criticise. Anyway, I don’t want to get into a singing contest with the singer of The Stone Roses!” Do you foresee a time – reunion or no reunion – when you’ll be on speaking terms with Ian again? Or, indeed, the other Roses? “I bumped into Reni at an Arthur Lee gig in Manchester, and I still see him now and again. We’re friends. And Mani’s godfather to all three of my children. As for Ian… well, it’s all very well him saying in interviews that he’s still got the same number and that I should call him, but if the kid keeps slagging me off…” It was a long time ago. Wouldn’t you like to get in a room and just shake hands? “Yeah, maybe. Why not? I’d like to be friends again. Let’s see where we are after 10 years.”
From Uncut Magazine 13 May 2016, Mani interview unconfirmed year circa 2006: Didn’t he say last year that he was planning to reform the Roses? “He did, and I think that’s what really pissed Ian off. Its like, how dare you without asking me? Me and Reni would be bang up for it. But he’s got to square things with Mr Brown, man. Come on, they’ve both got hair around their knackers, they’re both 43 years of age now, be adult about it for fuck’s sake, guys. Listen to me! Henry Kissinger is in the house!”
How’s your scheme coming along to bring John and Ian together without their knowledge? “I’d just love them to phone each other up, just straighten it out. It’s like a Mexican stand-off. If I could get them together I fucking sincerely would because we were the tightest gang in town. But then it could be claret, snot and teeth flying about the place. It could go either way! Basically it’s a pride thing. Ian’s still very hurt and I think John – I hope he doesn’t hate me for saying this – but John should pick up the phone and give him a call. There’s no need for John to be penitent, because it was so dysfunctional at that time, and John’s a driven guy. But he could have gone about it a better way.”
You have made it clear you’d be up for one last Roses tour. Have you had serious offers from promoters? “There’s probably been fucking loads. I’ve been spoken to by a certain big promoter.”
Presumably Simon Moran of SJM, John’s sometime manager? “Yeah. He’s mad for it to happen. I can’t go into figures but we’d all be able to fucking retire. But we always said it’s not about the money, otherwise we could have fucking sold our souls to the devil 10 times over. We did it just for making music and trying to change people’s attitudes to the Royal Family and racism and all that kind of shit. It was about being the vanguard of change and showing people off council estates that they can fucking form bands and do it. And then you got Verve and Oasis and all these kids.”
So, in that sense, the Roses were a success? “Absolutely. I never can see it as a failed mission. Fucking hell! I’m from north Manchester – not the best part of town – yet I’ve been around the world two or three times playing music. I’m still comfortable, I’ve got a house. I could have ended up dealing crack or stealing cars or robbing houses, like a lot of my friends. Or dead.”
How about reforming for charity? “A one-off gig for charity would be fucking awesome. It doesn’t matter if we do it for 37-and-a-half pence. Just to do it would be a joy in itself. Then I could close that chapter in my life. The door is still ajar.”
Ian seems doubtful that the other Roses would reform for charity. “I’d do it for charity, in an instant. I’m sure John would. And Reni.”
From 11 December 2004 Saturday - The Irsh Times Interview by Kevin Courtney: Brown has already dismissed the possibility, saying that no one wants to see "grey-haired, pot-bellied geezers". Which doesn't explain why Duran Duran keep pulling big crowds.
From 06 September 2002 - The Guardian Newspaper John Squire interview: ...That's why, despite offers of millions, a greatest hits set in the autumn (selected by all four members, although not together) and persistent internet rumours, there will be no revival tour. "I'd rather remove my liver with a teaspoon," says Squire, the glint returning to his eye....
September 2002 - City Life Citylife Magazine John Squire Interview: "But we wouldn't be The Stone Roses. We'd be the ex-Stone Roses that reformed and cobbled together a tour for the money. I'm not interested in any financial rewards." Not even for music's sake? "I'm sure it'd be good fun to get in a room together and play again. But I think reforming now would dilute the band rather than enhance it. We've been offered a million pounds each to do a tour but I couldn't go through it without thinking of Spinal Tap. The biggest hurdle to The Stone Roses ever getting back together is that we broke up seven years ago. Show me a way of undoing that and I'll play a Stone Roses gig. Simple as that."
October 2002 - Planet Sound Mani Interview: ...Besides as Primal Scream tell me, I need the Roses' to reform one day because it's my pension plan.
From 30 July 2012 - The Guardian/Uncut Magazine: Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder: ‘We didn’t want to get as skint as the Stone Roses did!’ Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder has said he's happy his band didn't as wait as long as The Stone Roses to reform. When asked by The Guardian if he wished he had left it longer to reform the Mondays after finding out the amount of money the Roses were offered to reform, which has been estimated at £26 million, he replied: "What, and got as skint as they did? No thanks! I've got six kids who've all gotta go to private school!" Speaking about the Roses’ return, he added: “Good music always sticks around. That’s just how it is. I haven’t seen The Stone Roses, though, I’ve been away.”

24 October 2011 - Ian Brown appeared in Chester magistrates court for his speeding offence.
Notes:
Mr Nick Freeman, was dubbed by the media "Mr Loophole" after successfully defending a number of celebrity clients charged with speeding offences, said Ian changed his plea to guilty before the trial when he realised that the speeds clocked by the police were correct (see 25 April 2011). Alison Warburton was prosecuting and gave her evidence.
Ian was fined £650 by Chester magistrates and received six penalty points for speeding on the M6 in April earlier this year.
Ian was also ordered to £300 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Ian Brown thanked the magistrates for their decision after his lawyer Nick Freeman argued that a driving ban would make it difficult for him to see his 11-year-old son who lives in London while he rehearses for The Stone Roses' reunion gigs in Manchester.
"That driving record in my view is something of an achievement because he travels a massive mileage," said Mr Freeman who told the court that his client drives around 50,000 miles a year. Mr Freeman said his client's high mileage was down to his job as a musician and also down to his "domestic arrangements". "It's an extremely quiet car and doesn't really give much sensation of speed." He said Brown was going through an "extremely acrimonious" divorce with his wife of 10 years and he drove to London every Wednesday to pick his 11-year-old son up from school and take him out for dinner. Mr Freeman added he continues to have an "excellent relationship" with his son and also drives to London to see him three weekends out of four.
On leaving court, Ian refused to comment on the case but stopped to sign an autograph for a radio journalist. "As somebody who is now in the public eye, one can imagine the difficulties he would now encounter if he were forced to rely on public transport. "It would be literally insurmountable. Something would have to give. He would have to reduce his contact with his 11-year-old son at a very difficult time of his life."
November 2011 Thursday - Ian Brown failed to appear at Stoke Magistrates Court for his speeding charge.

24 November 2011 - Ian Brown is served a driving ban after three consecutive speeding offences at Stoke-on-Trent magistrates court.
Notes: Ian is banned from driving for three months, fined £900 and ordered to pay costs of £1,015. Ian was caught driving at 93mph in a 40mph zone, see 12 October 2010. Ian failed to appear at Stoke Magistrates Court earlier in the month.
Judge David Taylor was "angered" by Ian for changing his plea to guilty at the last minute, adding: "This will lead to disqualification." The District Judge bans Ian from driving and warns him, he would face prison if caught behind the wheel during the disqualification period. "Speed limits are not imposed on a motorway unless there are very good reasons. Those reasons are almost always health and safety."
Judge Taylor also ordered that Ian's six points from a previous offence in April this year - when he was caught speeding at 105mph on the M6 in Cheshire - should remain on his licence.
Ian's solicitor Nick Freeman said: "He accepts he should not have been travelling at the speed he was. He accepts the court's sentence with good grace and is now looking forward with enthusiasm to the next stage of his career."

22 October 2011 Saturday - Ian Brown Profile, at 19:00, BBC Radio 4 broadcast.
Notes: "Liam Gallagher, John Leckie and John Robb talk about Stone Roses' Ian Brown after the legendary band announced this week that they are reforming. Brown formed the band with school friend John Squire but the rift between the two saw the break-up after just two albums and left a generation of music fans hanging. Brown went on to have a solo career but now he and his former bandmates have made amends. He and the band made a huge mark on music and influenced many who met him including bands such as Oasis and in their early days, Radiohead." Producer: Wesley Stephenson.

02 December 2011 Friday - Justice Tonight Concert, Ritz, Manchester
Soundcheck: Bankrobber (with Simon Wolstencroft on drums)
Elizabeth My Dear (Ian & John) / Bankrobber (cover) (All stars with Ian & John) / Armageddon Time (The Clash cover) (All stars with Ian & John)
Notes: The "first" reunion show. Hosted by Mick Jones. John Squire & Ian Brown make a very special appearence together onstage, for the first time since 16 years. They also featured in an all star line up.
The all stars featured Mick Jones (The Clash) on guitar and vocals, Pete Wylie (Mighty Wah) on guitar and vocals, Peter Hooton (The Farm) on vocals. The Justice Tonight Concert was in aid of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign.
John's brother Matt Squire took photos during the show.
From 04 August 2014 - Matthew Mead - This Is The Daybreak Simon Wolstencroft Interview: Fast forward to December 2011 and The Patrol reunion ! How did that happen ? In December 2011, Ian invited me down to the Hillsborough benefit gig at the Manchester Ritz with Mick Jones. Ian and John were to perform on The Clash's classic 'Bankrobber' which Ian and Pete Garner (The Stone Roses’ first bass player) had witnessed being recorded at Pluto Studios in Manchester, years before. At the soundcheck, I was asked to play drums for Ian and John on Bankrobber, as the house band drummer was late. I had not seen John Squire since 1995 at the Manchester Apollo when the Roses played one of their last gigs together. It felt amazing to be back on stage together after all this time and I was buzzing all night, though when it came showtime I was gutted cos The Farm’s drummer showed up. We had all come full circle.
From 05 December 2011 Monday 10:50 - The Guardian Newspaper article, by Sean Michaels: Singer and guitarist perform together for first time in 16 years, making surprise appearance at Manchester benefit concert The Stone Roses' Ian Brown and John Squire mounted a surprise reunion on Friday, performing together for the first time in 16 years. The singer and guitarist played three songs – including one of their own – at a Manchester benefit concert organised by Mick Jones. The former Clash musician did promise special guests on the Hillsborough Justice Tour, which is raising money for survivors of the 1989 disaster. But the appearance of Brown and Squire is significant: despite announcing their return last month, Brown hasn't performed with Squire since December 1995. And the Stone Roses reunion gigs aren't until June 2012.
Friday's concert was almost over when Brown and Squire shambled on stage at the Ritz, sneaking in for the encore. As the lights came up they launched into Elizabeth My Dear, from the band's 1989 debut. The song was apparently requested by Jones. The pair also performed versions of Armagideon Time and Bankrobber, originally by the Clash, accompanied by Jones and members of the Farm. According to a report by author and musician John Robb, another one-time Stone Rose was present at the gig. Simon Wolstencroft, the group's first drummer, played with Squire and Brown at soundcheck. "Post gig we go to the hotel bar," Robb wrote. "The night is full of great stories, and that kind of electric buzz when you know you have been part of something really important … Ian Brown is talking about the north and the power of Liverpool and Manchester being together and how the two cities can take on the world. Some drunk in the bar tries to get Ian to slag off Oasis but he won't have any of it, pointing out that 'in Manchester we stick together.'" Mick Jones's Hillsborough Justice Tour continued to Sheffield on Saturday night, featuring guests Richard Hawley and John McClure. He plays London on Thursday.

Notes: The first show, with the seminal roses line up, for 22 years. Also the first time the Second Coming songs have been heard with Reni drumming live too. 1000 Tickets were available on the afternoon of the gig, with fans only being told about the show 4 hours before. Clint Boon made an announcement on XFM informing fans they had to prove themselves as fans to get a ticket from the box office. Fans took records, cds, t-shirts and other mememborlia. Tickets were sold out in under an hour with lots of studentsand touts picking up the tickets.
Stoned Love by The Supremes was used as the band intro tape to the stage here, and throughout the tour. Tightrope has a new arrangment with electric guitar.
Love Spreads includes an additional rap section by Ian Brown which was performed on several dates during the reunion shows with slightly different lyrics at different shows (see 29 July 2012 for the lyrics). I Am The Resurrection was not on the setlist.
These notes were taken from John Squire's setlist and included handwritten guitar details for each song.

02-22 June 2012 - Ian Tilton's Photographs Of The Rise of The Stone Roses, Rock City Art Gallery, 26 Castle Lane, Bedford, MK403US Ian Tilton Exibithion
Notes: Free entry. The catalogue 'What The World Is Waiting For' was made available to purchase at the event and online. Features several of Ian Tilton's Photographs of the rise of The Stone Roses. Only 100 copies were availble hand signed by Ian Tilton himself.
A limited edition photograph set was available from the exibithion and online. Ian Tilton's Little Red Book Photolibrary was issued in a card booklet in a plastic sleeve, it was signed by Ian Tilton and included 20 postcards with images of the band.
Posters and prints were also available to buy online and at the exibithion.
The book uses a photo of the band behind pollocked glass with John holding an oversized camera, Reni in white bucket hat and Mani wearing stripes too. The photo was taken in Chorlton, July 1989.
01 June saw VIP and invitation only viewings.
‘What The World Is Waiting For’ brings together Tilton’s collection of images charting the rise of The Stone Roses from obscurity in 1987 to worldwide cult status 1990. Based in Manchester, Ian Tilton began his career in the eighties, shooting iconic bands around the world such as Guns N Roses, Iggy Pop, The Smiths, U2 and The Cure.

M - June 2012 - The Stone Roses appear on the cover of The Word Magazine, Subscribers Edition, Issue 112 - June 2012
Notes: 'The Resurrection Starts Here' by Andrew Collins. The cover had some very crude darwings of the band members circa 1990.

Notes: The first official date of the 27 date world tour. Reni sings a line over the intro tape ''Stoned In Love'' by The Supremes. Ten Storey Love Song, Fools Gold, Standing Here & Made Of Stone, This Is The One & I Am The Resurrection are added to the setlist. The last time This Is The One was performed 24 years prior. Sold Out Show, 2,500 capacity venue. The show suffered several technical issues with the sound throughout. Liam Gallagher & Gem Archer (of Oasis) were in the audience. The band stood together on stage at the end of show, taking in the atmosphere and rapturous applause.
John and Mani both signed and met fans outside the venue after the show, Reni waved and shouted bye as he got straight into a van and left, Ian also passes by and leaves in a van. Liam Gallagher met the crowd and signed for fans too.

12 June - 12 August 2012 - The Third Coming, The Definitive Exibithion, The Space, Whiteleys Shopping Centre, Queensway, Bayswater, London, W24YN
Notes: An exhibition featuring photographs of The Stone Roses taken by Kevin Cummins, Ian Tilton and Paul Slattery. Officially opened 13 June.
There was a limited edition exibithion catalogue on sale which featured photographs, band and photographer biographies too.
Exibithion Curator, Dave Brolan, said: "These three photographers – Kevin Cummins, Paul Slattery and Ian Tilton – have, between them, captured pretty much every major artist of the last 30 years, many as they were still unknown or emerging...Together, they helped shape the image of The Stone Roses."
12 June 2012 was the preview date with doors opening 18:30-20:30. The exibition also included original artwork, concert memborabillia, posters, prints and loads more. There was even an oppurtunity to have your photo taken covered in paint, to re-create Kevin Cumming's iconic photoshoot (featured on the NME Magazine cover 1989). For those who didn't want to be painted there was also a screen to have your photo taken in front of.

12 June 2012 – Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, Netherlands
(Stoned In Love) / I Wanna Be Adored / Sally Cinnamon / Mersey Paradise / (Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister / Where Angels Play / Shoot You Down / Fools Gold / Tightrope / Ten Storey Love Song / Waterfall / Don't Stop / This Is the One / She Bangs The Drums / Made Of Stone / Love Spreads
Notes: Sold Out Show, over 5500 attended the infamous show. Ian made a mistake during Sally Cinnamon singing 'pop pop blow' verse twice. The band did not return for an encore (I Am The Resurrection). Apparently Reni had several technical problems with his headset & in ear monitors throughout the night. The band never performed encores with Reni. Ian Brown returned to the stage on his own explaining the situation to the crowd. “The drummer’s gone home, I’m not kidding you. Sorry about that. What can I say? The drummer’s a c"nt."
"The drummer's gone home. I'm not joking, the drummer's gone home. Get all your aggro out on me, I can take it. What can I say, the drummer's a cunt."
From this show onwards the band would perform a full set without any breaks.
Inder Goldfinger and Simon Wolstencroft were Ian's guests and watched the show.
The promo poster used the 'stencil design' with a light blue background.

14 June 2012 - Hulstfred Festival, Folkets Park, Hultsfred, Sweden

Sally Cinnamon / Ten Storey Love Song / Bye Bye Badman / I Wanna Be Adored / Shoot You Down / Tightrope / Fools Gold / Waterfall - Don't Stop / She Bangs The Drums / Made Of Stone / This ls The One / Love Spreads / I Am The Resurrection
Notes: Unconfirmed Setlist running order. Ian Brown called the St. George's cross "That's the f*cking pope’s flag! Not cool, man!", Ian then threw the flag on the floor and jumped on it before he mimed wiping his bum with it during the Danish music festival.
The Stone Roses In Aarhus - How It Was, Published 17 June 2012 by Fernando Augusto Lopes http://www.botequimdeideias.com.br : Ian Brown arrives at the right corner of the stage. He makes obscene gestures to the audience. The band plays “Waterfall” and a group of Brits throw the British flag at him. Brown takes it, spits on it, stomps it and even makes a gesture of wiping his ass with the national symbol. He justifies himself into the microphone: “That’s the fucking pope’s flag! Not cool, man!”.
The group of compatriots gets angry, threatens a riot – not all of them are drunk, they are really pissed off – and security arrives to take them all away (there are about ten Englishmen in total). Brown returns to the vocalist role, amends "Don't Stop" and at the end of the song will still take one with the remnants (who scream "it's your flag too, you stupid!").

22 June 2012 - Hurricane Festival, Blue Stage, Eichenring, Scheeßel, Germany

Notes: Bye Bye Badman is added to the setlist. A rarely played song, last heard live in February 1989 and was quickly dropped from the setlist. The song makes a welcome return with additional Reni harmonies and John Squire riffs too.

Elizabeth My Dear is added to the setlist, the entire debut LP is performed live for the first ever. All the right songs but not neccessarily in the right order...
The promo postered ued the 'stencil' design with a dark blue background.
“We were playing with the Roses in Lyon three years ago,” recalls Membranes and Goldblade frontman, John Robb, “and at the soundcheck all we could hear was Mani playing the bassline to Slaughter’s Where Have All The Boot Boys Gone?. I think he was seeing if we'd recognise it. It was a Manchester test."

Primal Scream [Support Set]: The Final Solution (2012) / Swastika Eyes / Movin’ On Up / Loaded / Country Girl / Jailbird / Rocks
Notes: Debut performance of 2012 noted as The Final Solution.
I Wanna Be Adored / Mersey Paradise / (Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister / Sally Cinnamon / Where Angels Play / Shoot You Down / Bye Bye Badman / Ten Storey Love Song / Standing Here / Fools Gold / Something’s Burning / Waterfall - Don't Stop / Love Spreads / Made Of Stone / This Is the One / She Bangs The Drums / Elizabeth My Dear / I Am The Resurrection
Notes: Record breaking sold out show. Tickets went on sale Friday 21 October 2011 at 9.30am. The Heaton Park shows sold 220,00 tickets in 68 mintues, with the first two original dates selling out in just 15 minutes. Approx 75,000 fans attended each day.
V.I.P. Packages were available which included unique entry wristbands, wristbands to the front of stage pit, lemon branded beer tokens, black and white lemon logo carrier bag & other merchandise. The VIP lanyard was white with multicoloured text, on the other side it was black with the classic lemon logo and VIP in white text. The lanyard looked the same for all three dates.
Only 10,000 front of stage pit access wristbands were allocated for each day.
Souvinier programmes were on sale for just £10, they were fetching up to £50 on eBay at the time. Unique to the show posters, T-Shirts, badges, keyrings and even bottle openers were available from the merchandise stalls.
The promo poster designed to promote the show was initially designed with just the two dates on, a revised poster was produced to include the additional date that went on sale.
Mani watched his former band mates (Primal Scream) and their new bass player from the side of the stage.
Fools Gold included the riff from The Beatles Daytripper & their own Driving South too, this was quite common during the reunion shows. As the set comes to an end the band hug centre stage before the show finishes. I am not sure if this a geniune embrace or a staged motive for the Shane Meadows recording, which was taking place for the Made Of Stone movie.
Cressa was backstage at the show, he also came back Sunday too.
Unofficial 'This Is The One - The Stone Roses Weekender' after party held at (Peter Hook's) Factory 251 Club, Manchester.
I was there with my dad. During Sally Cinnamon we asked the security stewards if we could have access to the V.I.P. area, they were too kind, we got our wristbands and for the Sunday show too. The best gig we have ever been to. ''The best gig of my life! The atmosphere was friendly, everyone knew what they were here for & the support bands were a really good mix of new & old. The set was amazing, the stage set up and animated screens looked amazing too! Perfect day.''
Sadly 22 year old fan Chris Brahney, from Timperley, went missing after the show. He lost his phone and was seperated from friends on the night. Christopher's body was discovered in the Manchester Ship Canal, near MediaCity, Salford Quays 09 July 2012. A message posted on the band's website said: "We'd like to extend our sincerest condolences to Christopher's family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time. Ian, John, Mani and Reni."
Stone Roses "atmosphere" went on sale on eBay from the show. See Media for article.

And when that resurrection finally occurred, Steve and his wife were at Manchester’s Heaton Park in VIP hospitality at Mani’s invite sharing in his half-brother’s joyous moment as the legendary Madchester outfit breathed new life into classics such as This Is The One, I Wanna Be Adored and Fool’s Gold all over again. “It was like a who’s who in VIP,” he recalls. “I remember seeing Holly Willoughby, John Bishop, Chris Moyles and they also had the magician Dynamo doing tricks backstage for us as well. Experts estimated The Stone Roses generated £23m for the Manchester economy by playing the trio of Heaton Park shows, The Stone Roses made approx £12.5m in ticket sales and a further £4m from merchandise. The gigs also generated millions in extra revenue for local businesses.
Reni handpicked Dirty North to open the show.
Cressa was backstage at the show, again, and said: "Outstanding. I didn’t come last night because I didn’t see how Friday could be any better, but there’s so much love. I was anticipating possibly a rocky show, but they were awesome. I'm told last night was even better. Hopefully it'll be an upward trajectory and tonight will be even better!...Obviously it was emotional, just to see them. 18 months ago I was saying to people, 'There's three things I want to see before I die; My son grow up to be a grown man, (Manchester) City to win the Premier League and the Roses to play again. I bet I only see one of those', and now in the last year, City have won the league and the Roses are playing again - so two out of three ain't bad.""

I was there with my dad. We asked the security stewards again if we could have access to the V.I.P. area, they were too kind, we got our blue front pit wristbands. Many fans jumped the front pit barriers to get closer to the band. A vast amount of alcohol & drugs were being taken throughout the day, in comparison to Friday's show, by the time the roses come on lots of fans were on the floor or being assisted by medical staff.
From 27 September 2013 - Andy Couzens interview: What do you make of the Roses getting back together? It was really good to see them together at the press conference, obviously enjoying being together. I saw them play on the Sunday night at Heaton Park. Emotional, but again - they need a rhythm guitar player ?''

N - 02 July 2012 - Shane Meadows confirms Stone Roses 'Made Of Stone' project.
Notes: Shane Meadows (This Is England, Once Upon A Time In The Midlands and Dead Man's Shoes) had finished the filming with the band for the movie at this point. He said making it allowed him to "be part of something truly remarkable, the double decade awaited resurrection of my all-time favourite band". Ian Brown made a cameo appearence in Shane's TV Series of 'This Is England 86', ironically, as a policeman.
Colin Paterson for the BBC wrote: 02 July 2012 BBC Shane Meadows on Stone Roses documentary. Filmmaker Shane Meadows has revealed that he shelved a major project to concentrate on a documentary about The Stone Roses. Speaking ahead of the first of the band's three gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park, the director said he and producer Mark Herbert were happy to put their planned film on hold as they "wanted to do this so much more". Herbert told the BBC's Colin Paterson that the untitled project, which will include footage shot at the Heaton Park gigs, could be released by Christmas.
From 20 May 2016 NME Magazine: Shane Meadows (Made Of Stone director) said: ...Towards the end of filming Made Of Stone, I knew they were demoing - I saw Ian going around with a little four-track cassette recorder. I was ridiculously excited by that, although I never got to hear anything.

Notes: Tickets went on sale 02 March 2012 Friday at 10:00. I was there. The atmosphere was lost through the mixed generations of crowds. The days line up did not compliment the band either. It felt like a '' Radio 1 target audience'' line up with a trending headliner. The only song the festival crowd knew was Fools Gold, quite often sampled in chart hits and still played in clubs today. The band played a great show. Quite a few roses fans travelled down from Manchester. The set ended with fireworks.

November 2012 - Fire at John Squire's Farmhouse near Macclesfield
Notes: A few days away from his 50th birthday, a fire
destroyed his two-storey art studio in the converted barn next to his
All the unsold paintings from
his “Celebrity” exhibition, featuring abstract works named after
figures such as serial killer Harold Shipman and David Beckham, were
destroyed. No Stone Roses artwork or items relating to his music
career were harmed. The symbolism would not have been lost on
Squire.

Apparently Ian was unhappy with the security at the show. A bouncer kicked out a female fan so Ian threw a bin at them. "...the girl being literally thrown out of the door by the bouncer. When Ian goes up to him I think he's motioning that she was only small and you're a big bloke. At the end of the gig, he takes the piss out of the bouncer by announcing to the crowd that the "ladies need to watch out as there's a big man who'll throw you out if you're 5ft 2, eyes of blue""

30 May 2013 Thursday - The Stone Roses: Made of Stone - A Shane Meadows Film - Movie World Premiere, Victoria Warehouse, Old Trafford, Manchester * Doors Open: 18:30, Show Starts: 19:30
Notes: Tickets went on sale Wednesday 17 April 2013 at 09:30.
The Stone Roses, minus Reni, made a rare public appearance alongside director Shane Meadows (Director) and Mark Herbert (Producer).
Fans were able to ask Shane & Mark their questions, after the premiere, live at the event or from cinemas around the country via Twitter. The event was satellite-linked simultaneously broadcast to 100 cinemas nationwide. See 05 June for the general release.
Regarding the filming Shane Meadows said: "People say that you can't recapture your youth, it'll never be the same second time round, but that's utter rubbish,", "The Roses were never allowed to reach their peak first time around so as far as I and millions of fans around the world were concerned, with this comeback the Roses could be even greater." He also said the film was not "a history lesson, nor is it a two hour concert film". "It is a film about defying the odds, sticking it to the man and telling the cynics to shut their pie-holes."
Regarding Reni's absence Ian Brown said he had "a really bad cold".
John Squire said: “(About a new LP) We’re working on it. It’ll be ready in about five years. We’ve got a few new songs. I can’t really tell you much about it. We won’t be playing the songs live until we’ve recorded them. We’re working on it this year.”
"We won't be playing any of them live until we've recorded it," Squire told the BBC's Colin Paterson on the red carpet.

The director, best known for his semi-autobiographic film and television series This Is England, said the documentary was as "much about the fans as the band".
He said: "They [the band] were really open with me, they gave me access to clips, photographs, things no-one has ever seen."

07 July 2013 - Mani's half brother Steve Jones tells his story
Notes: Mani and Greg's half brother Steve talks to walesonline.co.uk about being reunited with his long lost family. This is well worth a read...
From 07 July 2013 08:34 walesonline.co.uk By David Owens:
'My secret Stone Roses half-brother': Welshman's search for dad unearths shock rock star link. Tracing his lost dad led to South Wales Valleys man finding Mani from The Stone Roses was his secret half-brother.
Steve Jones, of Mountain Ash, who has found his half brother is Mani from The Stone Roses. It was hailed the greatest comeback in rock ‘n’ roll history.
When The Stone Roses took to the stage at Heaton Park in their native Manchester 15 years after splitting, it ended a long wait for one of the greatest British bands of all time to reunite. And in the crowd to witness the resurrection was a Welshman with his own incredible Stone Roses tale.
Up until a few years ago, Steve Jones was a man in search of the dad who had left the family home in South Wales when Steve was just three years old.
Little did he realise that his father, Colin Mounfield, had started a new life in Manchester and had two sons – one of whom was one of the most successful rock stars in Britain, Gary “Mani” Mounfield – the bass player and rhythmic heart of both Primal Scream and The Stone Roses...
Over the years, the 56-year-old former crane operator had never given up hope of a reunion with his dad, who was originally from Manchester, and had met Steve’s mum Pauline when the pair worked for the army in the ’50s.
Then a few years ago he decided to once again attempt to find the dad who had left the family home in Penrhiwceiber, near Aberdare, to move back to England. “I knew he had moved to the Manchester area and found a website called Lancashire Missing You where people from that area could trace each other,” said Steve. “I scanned in a photo of my dad from his days in the military with the message ‘I’m looking for anyone who knows Colin Mounfield’ and didn’t really expect anything to happen, because I had tried to find my dad before without any success, although that was before the internet so it was so much more difficult.” Little did he know that fate was about to play its hand.
“Out of pure co-incidence the same week, Mani’s brother Greg – who at that time was living in Spain – was around his mate’s house with his girlfriend and they were messing about on the computer on the same website. “So Greg said what should he put in the search and his girlfriend Janet said ‘put your dad’s name in’. And – bang – within days of me putting up my message Greg saw it. “I got an e-mail back from him but he obviously thought I was one of the other guys in the picture and told me ‘I’m sorry to tell you but my dad died in 1991’, which was a real shock to me as you can imagine.” Dad-of-four Steve had himself suffered a heart attack at 52, the very same age as his dad when he died. “I’m 56 now and fighting fit,” added Steve, who now works as a security guard. “But you can imagine how I felt when I heard that news.”
However, there was equal shock for the Mounfield brothers when Steve announced he was their half-brother. “I was sat there looking at this message saying my dad was dead and I thought what do I do now? Do I write back to Greg and tell him I’m not a friend of your dad he’s actually my dad as well? Or do I leave it and carry on with my life? I was in a real quandary but in the end I decided to just tell him.
“When I sent the message apparently Greg was out cycling and his girlfriend opened up the e-mail and phoned him and he nearly crashed his bike!” In Manchester the rock star greeted the news with scepticism. “Greg contacted Mani who told him to beware because he thought it could all be fabricated rubbish, which I guess is understandable; when you’re a member of such a famous group you get all sorts of people trying it on. “Greg then asked me to send him a picture of me. So I sent it over and then that’s when it all exploded, because apparently I’m the model of my father, the spitting image apparently. “The photo was then forwarded to Mani, who had been apprehensive, and Mani’s wife Imelda printed it out, slapped the picture on the table and said ‘deny that!’ He took one look at the picture and said ‘Maybe we ought to talk to this guy.’ “They had no idea their dad had a Welsh family,” added Steve. “Apparently, when I got in touch Mani was asking around the family, and one of the old uncles said he knew about me but was sworn to secrecy. I said fair play he can keep a secret! He was the only one. Even Mani’s mum didn’t know.” Ironically, before fate had brought the brothers together Steve had found an interview on a website with Mani where he mentioned his dad was called Colin and was a chef. “I thought so was mine, no it can’t be him, Mani’s too famous, I just laughed it off,” he recalls. The years have thrown up secrets from both families, not least when Steve learnt the reason why he believes his father left behind his family in South Wales. “My mother fell pregnant when she was young and they split when I was three. My dad got a raw deal from my grandparents. In the 1950s it was scorned upon when a young girl got pregnant. We found out years later that my grandfather got my auntie to write a terrible letter to my father pretending to be my mother telling him ‘never to darken her door again and never to come back here’. “My mother didn’t find this out until years later, and in my mind that’s why my father didn’t bother coming back. He decided to call it a day and just move on. It was a different time back then. “Emotionally it does feel like I’ve lost my dad but I’ve also found a family. Greg and Mani are absolutely great.”
The first meeting between the trio was at the Benicassim Festival in Spain where Mani was, at that time, still playing with Primal Scream – and as get-togethers go it couldn’t have gone much better. Everyone got on famously and Mani invited Steve to watch from the side of the stage as the band put on a fantastic show. “It hit me in Benicassim when I was stood at the side of the stage just how famous Mani is,” says Steve. “There were 50,000 people chanting his name. After the gig he presented me with the drum skins off the drum kit which he had got the band to sign for me.
“I remember what Mani said when we were parting after that first meeting,” he adds. “We hugged each other and I thanked him for a brilliant weekend and said sorry it’s coming to an end. He said ‘it’s not the end, it’s just the beginning’." True to his word the Mancunian music icon has been a constant in Steve’s life since that first meeting, giving him an insight into the life of his late father, and also allowing him to witness some great moments in music history.
“Not long after we first met, Mani took me on a tour around Manchester. He took me up to the cemetery to see my dad’s plot and also showed me where my father used to work. “Going out in Manchester with Mani is hard work I can tell you because he’s so well known,” laughs Steve. “You’re trying to have a conversation with him in a pub and everyone wants a photo or wants to chat with him. You can’t get a tidy sentence out in between. “But it was great to be shown around and he even took me to see a Manchester United game.”
An avowed Red, Mani told Steve how George Best had become a friend of his dad’s and how after training Colin Mounfield used to cook for the Manchester United players at the restaurant where he worked. “I even discovered that (fellow Man United legend) Nobby Stiles is a distant relative of the family,” says the lifelong Bluebird.
Steve realised how much a part of the family he had become when Mani’s mum sadly passed away in 2011 and he was invited to the funeral. Out of something so sad, came something so good.”
Heaton Park was amazing.”
Nowadays, Steve keeps a cherished picture of his new-found half-brothers in his wallet. “It’s difficult for people to believe when I tell them that I’m related to Mani. Even when I show them the picture they think it’s photoshopped,” he laughs. “Hopefully after reading this, everyone will believe me now!”
