Winner of the best new festival award 2004. Twenty Four Records also promoted the shows I Swear I Was There Stage. The Panics, Australian band were signed to Gaz Whelan's 'Little Big Man' label.
Silent Partners features ex-Northside singer Dermo. Bez's band Domino Bones make their live debut here playing five songs. Not sure if Johnny Marr saw The Cribs play here, Johnny would work with The Cribs record and play live with them in the near future.
Shaun Ryder, June 2004: "For me this is about putting something back in. I've been working with Get Loaded and Kav for some time now and when the lads came up with the idea and said we'd be pushing loads of new bands as well, it just seem only right to be involved. I'm not dealing with corporate's here, I'm dealing with a group of lads who just wanna make something happen!"
Get Loaded In The Park is "as much about supporting new bands, ideas and concepts as it is about putting on The Mondays". Get Loaded promoter Kav explains this philosophy: "It's about giving new talent the chance to shine through - bands that possibly haven't had the opportunities, the money or the backing in the past to showcase their talents to a wider audience. Get Loaded in the Park is the opportunity of a lifetime and we fully intend to make everybody aware of our beliefs and what we stand for. We receive anything up to 100 CDs a day from unsigned bands, so the festival idea was the logical next step."

06 - 23 January 2005 - Bez appears and then wins Celebrity Big Brother
Notes: The show aired 06 January and ended 23 January with Bez, aged 40, being voted the winner of the TV Show. Davina McCall hosted the, third, edition of Celebrity Big Brother. The idea of the show in general was for members of the public, or in this case celebrities, had to live in a house together whilst being filmed constantly. They were give challenges throughout the game show and members of the public had to vote for their favrouite celebrity to stay. Bez won £10,000 for covering himself in syrup and coating himself in as many fake banknotes as possible. He helped fellow house mate super model Caprice, 33, cover herself in syrup too. Bez won £50,000 after gaining 54% of the public vote and gave a fee to the tsunami relief appeal. He spent some money on paying off his outstanding tax bill as well as paying for his London Black Cab to be customised on the TV Show 'Pimp My Ride UK'.
Bez said that he was inspired to join the third series of Celebrity Big Brother after seeing his friend Goldie take part but admitted he planned to smuggle drugs into the Big Brother house. I may be a bit of a drug addict, man, and I really thought 'I ain't going to last this fortnight'. Shaun later revealed to Sam Parker in the newspaper: "Me and Bez sat down planning how he would get his E up his backside and get a bag of tobacco, fill it with weed and reseal it."...Bez's girlfriend Monica Ward, 22, claims his oddball behavoiour is down to a motobike crash - not drugs. She claims Bez slurs his speech because of a crash in 2000, from which he contracted the MRSA hospital superbug and has never fully recovered. She said "It's amazing he's even alive, let alone walking and talking on the TV". And she's fuming at Germaine Greer for comparing her beloved to former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne "Ozzy admitted drugs left him the way he is - but Bez never did heroin" At the time Bez and Monica were living in Glossop, Derbyshire. Bez said "I don't worry about the future because no-one can predict it anyway.707 November 2022 - The Big Issue Bez Interview: My saving grace was that I had never actually watched the show. So I had no preconceptions of how I should behave or how I should play the game. I was just my usual self – I try to be well mannered and polite and nice to people. I was slightly rebellious, but I was always pleasant and I supported people when they needed support, like Jackie Stallone. I think that got me in with the blue rinse brigade. People who would normally not look at me twice. But a lot of my win was down the support I got out there as a Happy Monday. I don’t think people realise what a huge support base we have.

23 July 2005 Saturday - K Festival, Polzeath, Cornwall
Notes: To promote the festival appearences Shaun did a short interview in a newspaper (The Sun or Daily Star or similar):
He's a Happy Monday, but is Shaun Ryder a silly boy, too?
Do you think you like Mondays more than most people? No. As young boys we hated every day except Friday and Saturday.
What's the first record you ever bought? Pin Ups by David Bowie.
Who are Squirrel and G-man [the name of their debut album]?
Squirrel was the nickname of the Happy Mondays' keyboard player's mum, and G-Man was the nickname for his dad, who was a buy [a police officer].
If you could go on stage with any band ever, who would it be and what instrument would you play? The band would be the Rolling Stones. The period: 60s and 70s. Instrument: a Bez!
If you had twins, a boy and a girl, what would you call them? Abor and Ted.
What's your favourite word? C**t.
Can you give us a Thought For The Day?
Don't think, it's dangerous; being me is a prison sentence.
What do you sing in the shower? Under My Thumb by Rolling Stones.
What's favourite item of clothing? Whatever keeps my balls comfortable.
What would you say to the Queen if you met her? Is that you or does your perfume smell of piss?
If you had to have a tatoo done, right now, what would you have, and where?
"MAM + DAD" on my forehead.
What's the first brilliant song you can think of?
Wade On The Water (instrumental).
If you had to give up either potatoes or onions for ever, which would it be?
Onions.

Bez's band, formed with his current partner, Domino Bones were the support band. Magician Dynamo made an appearence onstage too before Ian came on, he was initially booed before Ian came on and offered support and asked for the audiences respect for the young magician. Sunny Levine, son of Simply Red/Sly & The Family Stone producer Stewart Levine and grandson of Quincy Jones, was producing the record.
Bjork and U2 producer Howie B was mixing the record and he told 6 Music it's being produced by U.S hiphop producer Sunny Levine. He also revealed that legendary guitarist Ry Cooder guests on the album.
Howie told 6 Music: "Sunny has done a fantastic job getting the best out of the band. Shaun is writing about what he's always written about, whatever's happening in his life really. His health, drugs, the weather. In fact there's a beautiful song about the weather that he's written and it's a classic..." "It's a mental project. It's really exciting, quite incredible. It's Shaun back on it. Shaun's a diamond. He's singing well, he's rapping well, his lyrics are just right on it. His language, which was always unique, has got even better. And he looks great. I wouldn't say he looks sexy, but he looks great."
August 2006 - Unkle Dysfunktional Recording Sessions
Notes: Sunny Levine and Howie B. complete the recordings and send them to be mastered. In the future the LP would see a completely new mix being issued on Vinyl and Download. Obviously the band were not happy with the 'loud' and 'full on' final mix and master of the LP.

New Order's royalties were being ploughed into the Hacienda and they were only being paid £20 per week. All the main characters appear—Tony Wilson, Barney, Shaun Ryder—and Hook tells it like it was—a rollercoaster of success, money, confusion and true faith.

25 November 2007 Sunday - Shaun Ryder 'Travel' Interview
Interview by Jon Bennett, Sun 25 Nov 2007 00.04 GMT, for The Guardian newspaper:
Me and my travels: Shaun Ryder, musician.
MY FIRST HOLIDAYS WERE...Big family holidays to Cornwall. Me, our kid and all our cousins all went down. You can imagine Cornwall in the early 1970s being hit by a load of Mancs. It didn't know what had hit it: we used to rob it blind. No one down there seemed to know that shoplifting existed. Cheapest holidays I've ever had.
MY BEST EVER HOLIDAY WAS...I can't remember. My memory is absolutely terrible. It's crystal clear until I was 17 and then there are just massive gaps. I'm told I went to Cuba to film a video; I genuinely don't remember ever being there.
TRAVELLING USED TO BE...All about finding drugs. When we first went to New York in the mid-1980s, crack was just being written and talked about. That was our main mission - to find out how to make crack proper.
WHEN WE'RE TOURING...Do I sightsee? No way. Being on the road you see hotel rooms, tour buses and dressing rooms. When I get up now I want to go out for a walk and see things, but the problem is I live in the night-time, so by the time I wake up it's showtime.
HOMESICKNESS IS...For soft lads. I've always liked the travel in my job - I've done it since I was a kid and it was my education. Yeah you miss your family, but you just have to blank it out.
MY IDEAL TRAVELLING COMPANION IS...My girlfriend, the gorgeous Joanna. She'd be good to go away with because she's a laugh but she's organised. She's four-and-a-half months pregnant though, so we'll not be going anywhere for a while. We'll be chilling in the house in Glossop.
TRAVELLING TEACHES YOU...Wherever you are in the world people can spot from the way that you walk if you ain't streetwise. I don't want to go on about the danger I've been in because I'll sound like I'm bragging. I could've been murdered 15 times.
THE WORST TIME I EVER HAD ABROAD WAS...People go on about the Caribbean when the Mondays were doing the last album. I got myself stoned because the knobheads in the band were getting on my tits so I developed a nice fat crack habit. But that were nowt to do with Barbados.
THE PLACE I'LL ALWAYS GO BACK TO IS...Ibiza. I first went in the 1980s and it were great then and it still is. Great place to go if you're young but you can even have a quiet time over there. I'm a big fan of Australia as well, especially Perth.
MY NEXT HOLIDAY WILL BE... I've never been to Thailand so that might be OK. Some people after they've toured just want to sit on their arse at home. I want to sit on my arse but I still like to have a chilled holiday.

Notes: Tickets went on sale 14 September 2007 at 09:00. The Central formerly known as The G-Mex Centre. Inspiral Carpets organist Clint Boon, of Boon Army fame, spins records throughout the night and keeps the crowd entertained.
From 11 September 2007 - Uncut Magazine: Speaking about the show, frontman Shaun Ryder declared: “It’s going to be one of the gigs of the year, even better than when we sold out Manchester MEN Arena in 2005. Manchester Central is the new name for the G-Mex and Ryder fondly remembers the show they played there previously. He said: “Everyone remembers our last shows at Manchester G-Mex (in 1990, at the height of their stardom) but I reckon we’ll top that with this one – it’s just going to be one pure, big Mancunian Christmas party.” Tickets go on sale this Friday (September 14) at 9am...

Kinky Afro / Reverend Black Grape (Black Grape) / Hallelujah / Step On / W.F.L.
Notes: I was there. The poorest gig in the series of Manchester V Cancer shows. The line up wasn't very strong and the organisers were trying to target a younger audience. The buzz around the show wasn't great and there wasn't any special one off collaborations like previous years. Manchester legends did not headline the show, The Enemy did.

Clint Boon Intro / Kinky Afro / Close It Down / Monster / Loose Fix / Reverend Black Grape / Jellybean / Unknown “Here We Go” / Step On
Notes: Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets introduced Shaun to the stage. James headlined the show and were joined by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Peter Hook & Rowetta joined James onstage only. Rowetta did not appear with the Mondays'. Bez didn’t turn up. They were billed as Happy Mondays but there was only Shaun as an original member onstage. The previous backing band had been replaced by younger musicians. I think Happy Mondays came on third from the top, Snow Patrol were second to headline before James. I was at the show, this was the last MCR V Cancer and is was quite obvious why. The music was poor, the advertising was poor, the promotion for the show wasn't great and the show did not sell out. I went to all the Manchester v Cancer shows and saw the difference between the events every year. They were great but this show seemed to drag and the event seemed to be less about 'Manchester'. Shortly after Shaun went “solo” under the title S.W.R. - Shaun William Ryder.
